What Kind of Listener are You?

THERE ARE DIFFERENT kinds of listening.

> One is subjective — everyday listening — when the listener hears what is being said as related only to their needs, and there isn’t much desire to understand the person speaking.

> There’s objective listening where the person focuses entirely on the person talking and doesn’t relate to what they are saying personally or professionally. It’s more effective than subjective listening but doesn’t get to the center of the matter.

> Intuitive listening is the deepest form of listening. You use all your senses, skills, and intuition to connect to the real message.

Your attention is focused on what the person is saying and how they say it, assessing their energy level, tone, emotions, and even what is not being said — you listening between the lines.

This is the most powerful form and choice for listening because you connect with the depths and needs of another person.

What kind of listener are you?

What kind of listener do you want to be?
